Since lockdown began in March, Home Fix Scotland’s Environmental Team has been working tirelessly to remove rubbish from the streets of Inverclyde.

With the recycling centres closed and bulk uplifting services suspended, fly-tipping across the region has more than doubled.

Just last week the environmental team picked up 22 bags of rubbish from one communal area.

Despite the workload increasing, staff morale has remained high as they look to provide residents with a clean and safe environment during lockdown.

While their hard work can sometimes go unnoticed, feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive.

Derek Robertson, Environmental Supervisor at Home Fix Scotland said: “It is during these times when people really get to see the value of what we do.

Since lockdown the team have worked non-stop to ensure that the common areas are free of bulk items.

With many people spending more time at home, some are taking this opportunity to have a clear out. This means that a lot more items are ending up on the streets and if we don’t remove them then it just doesn’t get done.”
