Home Fix Scotland partners with Ayvens to deliver innovative fleet renewal
Driving efficiency, sustainability, and operational excellence in light commercial vehicles
Home Fix Scotland (HFS), a subsidiary of RCH Group, is pleased to announce the successful renewal and redesign of its extensive light commercial vehicle (LCV) fleet in partnership with specialist fleet management provider Ayvens. With a fleet of 78 vehicles—100% of which are vans—HFS sought a trusted partner to help reduce operating costs, minimise vehicle downtime, and support a strategic transition towards more environmentally friendly vehicles aligned with its ‘Road to Zero’ emissions targets.
Following a comprehensive review conducted by Ayvens, including a detailed appraisal of the current and mid-term electric van market, HFS developed a forward-looking fleet strategy. This strategy targets transitioning 20-25% of the LCV fleet to Hybrid Electric or Full Electric vehicles within the next five years, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.
Key challenges addressed through this partnership included managing multiple trade-specific vehicle specifications across our diverse teams and replacing an ageing fleet with outdated branding. Ayvens worked closely with us to develop a streamlined “multi-trade” van specification, simplifying fleet management and improving flexibility to meet evolving trade requirements. Additionally, Ayvens led a full redesign of our fleet livery, creating a fresh, modern, and distinctive brand identity in collaboration with our internal teams and livery partner Pulse.
Our new fleet features state-of-the-art vehicles equipped with enhanced storage solutions, improved fuel efficiency, hybrid systems, advanced navigation technology, and refreshed branding. These upgrades enable our teams to respond quickly and effectively to customer needs whilst significantly reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Each upgraded LCV is expected to save approximately £500 annually in fuel costs, based on 15,000 miles per year, contributing to our broader commitment to environmental responsibility.
Terry Appleyard, Ayvens’ dedicated LCV account manager for the project, has provided invaluable tailored advice and support, ensuring a smooth and future-focused fleet transition. Stewart Ballantyne, Ayvens’ Account Manager for Home Fix Scotland, who has managed the contract and relationship for the past three years and recently renegotiated the new agreement, continues to oversee the overarching partnership.
Derek Robertson, Environmental Manager, Home Fix Scotland, said: “The support Ayvens has given us – both within and outside of its area – is making a real difference to the efficient, smooth and future-focused operation of our fleet. They are responsive, agile, and solutions-focused, and simplifying process for my short / medium term hire requirements. Ayvens has demonstrated itself to be a dedicated and trusted fleet partner, willing to adapt and change processes to assist.”
Derek Ferguson, Managing Director of Home Fix Scotland, added:
“We are incredibly excited about the arrival of our new vans. This investment is a direct reflection of our dedication to continuous improvement and our mission to provide the highest quality service. Our new fleet will not only enhance our operational capabilities, but also ensure our teams have the best possible resources to carry out their work.”
This partnership with Ayvens exemplifies our commitment to delivering innovative fleet solutions that balance operational efficiency with sustainability goals, supporting Home Fix Scotland on its journey to Net Zero.
