As part of our ongoing pledge to achieve zero landfill waste by 2021, Home Fix Scotland has joined forces with WRC Recycling to explore and improve recycling rates within the workplace. This new innovative partnership will overcome existing barriers whilst identifying alternative waste management solutions to limit what goes into landfill.

Encouraging the conservation of natural resources is recognised as a priority consideration for the business and the communities in which we operate. A contemporary and inventive waste management solution has already been installed at Springkell Street where a new source segregation system will enable us to seamlessly separate materials and capture commodities of a recycling value. Elsewhere, new signage and the introduction of a colour coding system will deliver small practical interventions that make a real, positive difference to the environment in which we occupy.

Mark Robson, Managing Director at Home Fix Scotland said: “We are determined to be doing our part to protect the environment and this is a major step forward for us. We are seeking ISO14001 environmental accreditation and the new partnership will help us to achieve this.”

Our new partnership will tackle the challenges associated with refuse and ensure that the views and experiences of staff are at the heart of future recommendations for improvements. Initial tool box talks with WRC Recycling proved to be a huge success with over 65 members of staff receiving guidance on all aspects of waste management.

Andrew Robertson, Sales & Marketing Consultant for WRC said ‘We are delighted to be given the opportunity to work with Home Fix Scotland and help achieve their environmental goals and aspirations. We have had a hugely positive response from the management and workforce. As the partnership grows and develops, we are keen to look at local environmental initiatives where we can offer support through sponsorship to local groups and community projects.”

Any Eco-Warrior Home Fix Scotland staff who are interested in becoming Waste Champions should contact Denise MacDonald for further information. Further details on the champions’ scheme will be issued to RCH staff in the near future.
