Say it with flowers

Glorious floral tribute to frontline workers

Front Line Workers Tribute 1

Members of Home Fix Scotland’s Environmental team have begun work on a floral tribute to keyworkers at Eastern View, a tower block in Gourock.

The colourful display will honour those working on the frontline during the Coronavirus pandemic.

As well as donating their own time, staff also adhered to the social distancing guidelines, staying two metres apart while curating the display. It was teamwork with a difference as Environmental Operative, Alan Kinaid spent hours prepping the bed before hand.

The flower bed will contain more than five different varieties of plants and has been a combined effort between Home Fix Scotland’s Environmental team and Parklea Branching Out Association in Port Glasgow, who sourced the plants.

It will be seen in its full glory next week when work is expected to be completed; following a delivery of colourful flowering succulent Echeveria plants.

Derek Robertson, Home Fix Scotland’s Environmental Supervisor and mastermind behind this project, said: “We just wanted to show our appreciation to those working on the frontline. Everyone in the country really values the hard work and dedication and this seemed like a great way to say thank you. It’s on a prominent site in Gourock and has the community benefit of adding a bit of colour during these times.

John Williams, Head of Operations at Home Fix Scotland said: “We welcomed Derek’s idea as an opportunity to do something positive in the community and to acknowledge the invaluable role that frontline workers have paid.”

He added: “It’s important we try and keep spirits high in these testing times and I’m very impressed with the care, attention and effort they’ve put in.”
